Height increase-Is it even possible at ANY age?

Height topic can be a sensitive issue to some. Well, there are many people, both guys and girls, who are vertically challenged. We live in an age where physical attrativeness plays a huge role in our confidence and self-belief, and height is no denial one of them. It is however more important for man to have that extra inches, since in society's point of view, a tall well-built man is seen more masculine and powerful in people's eyes. Height can be a deciding factor to our relationship, finding a partner, getting a pay job increas etc. For my next few blog posts, i will deal with certain heigth issues, ways to increase them, and other related-height questions that people always ask.


Is it even possible to increase height at ANY given age?

Fortunately, the answer is YES, regardless of whether you are a boy or a girl, and assuming you do not have any particular height abnormalitiy disease like dwarfism. However, how much you can gain that additional height, really depends on your age, lifestyle, eating habits, exercises and workouts you do etc. In reality, do you know that EVERYONE can be 1-7 inches taller than their current height now. For people below 30 years old, the chances is higher, whereas someone who is above 30 years old, you may still increase your height about 1-3 inches more.

Let me explain.Everyone's growth plates (legs, hands, limbs etc) dont exactly completely close until they are between 25-30 years old. Which means that it is very possible to still force the production of growth hormone to stimulate into the growth plates and cause growth to occur in a person's body. However, the reason why some people probably fail to grow after 18 or 21, is because they are no longer doing something about their height, or they may think it is already impossible, or probably they have lose faith about their height and decide to pursue other goals like their school/career/family etc. For those who are well above 30 years old, even though your growth plates may have closed, you can still grow taller as your spinal chords vertebrates do not fuse even till you die. You can still do hanging exercises, yoga , pilates, etc to increasse the spinal gaps in the spinal chords to add additional inches to your back! That is why it is still possible to grow even for those above 30 years old.

Everyone of us here have experienced some sort of growth spurt in girls between 12-14, and guys between 14-17. The reason why growth spurt occurs is because there is a sudden increase in growth hormone production which happens during these specific time. Probably because when we were younger, we used to be happier mentally, more active in school, had all the nutritions we need in our daily diet, and were getting enough sleep. We were naive kids growing up, literally and physically growing up. However as we gets older into our late teens, many of us start eating unhealthily (fast food), neevr commit time to exercise, staying up in the middle of the night to play onlien games, probably we have lesser time to sleep, getting more stress from school and work etc. As a result, many of us, yes i would say probably 95% of us stop growing between 16-20.

So, if you were to stimulate what your body was experiencing when you had that growth spurt when you were younger, assuming your growth plates have not completely closed, there is a chance that you can grow taller, and in fact have another growth spurt! Some people in fact have 2 or more growth spurts in their youths! Dont believe? Here's a few testimonials.

What if i have short parents? 

A lot of people ask this: Does genes play a part too in determining height. If you want me to give a definite answer, i would say no. Consider these.

If genes play a part in determining height, that would mean all male siblings in the family would have the same height. And all the female siblings would have the same height once they reach adulthood. 

If genes play a part in determining height, then short people are destined to produce a generation of short people, and tall people are destined to produce a generation of tall people. 

If genes play a part in determining height, all children would have the same height as their parents. 

Do you notice that, if you assume genes plays a part in determining height, all the above sentences wouldnt make sense at all. Genes do not play a part growing taller. I have seen so many short parents who end up having extremely tall children. Many siblings do not have the same height, some are taller and some are shorter. And in fact, many children today are taller than their parents.

If genes dont play a part, then what? There are other factors like diet, exercise, modern day lifestyle etc. Everyone has different diet, are active in different ways of their life, as a result, many people have differing heights. And these are precisely what determines height- Food, and the activities you do. People in the past were shorter than now because people can get more nutritios food available at the grocery store. Children now are taller because they are more active in sports and recreational activities compared to the kids in the past.



People do not realize this point. Many short people/tall people who are depressed about their height end up blaming their parents, and blame the genes they have got. However, this is so wrong. You can make a difference to your height, and dont let fate be in their way to upset you! You can change your height and fate!!!!! Consider this, a fat couple bears a baby boy. Growing up in the family where food is abundant and the lifestyle is one that is not very active, the boy grows up being fat and lazy, he does not like sports and is very inactive. He ends up thinking that his overweight body is 'fated-to-be' and is 'born to be fat'! Let me tell you, NO ONE is born fat, NO ONE is born short. You make decisions for your own life. And you can make the right decisions. You can change how you look now! Dont be disheartened!
